Day 22 of 309 September 2026
Be yourself
At some point, it’s all machines talking to each other…
Hear me out. I was reading an email chain this morning and it straight up read like Claude talking to Gemini and it felt so fake. And I don’t even remember what the email chain was about — because all I remember was how the exchange went.
And the point is, yes, AI can totally help with writing and structuring, but when you’re copying and pasting and not using it to revise and retain some of your voice (the very one you hopefully get when reading my blog) — then you’re losing out on being yourself.
Which is your biggest moat and protection against the age of AI.
I get that people are afraid of what AI will do and how it’ll take their jobs, but people are already doing that to themselves — poorly, and too broadly. If you use AI too much without being thoughtful and strategic about it, then you’re losing yourself and presenting AI’s work. Humans on behalf of AI vs. AI helping on behalf of humanity.
So in other words, the harness is your personality, but thankfully — no agent will ever be able to capture EVERY single thing about you as a person.
Hang onto your personality and be more YOU.
Don’t worry about typos and not having the perfect email. Just get it out, write what you think, and be yourself. That’s how you hedge against AI in this day and age.
BTW — I am doing a presentation next week entitled “The Future of Clinical Trials: Humans Beyond the Loop,” where I’m going to attempt to teach folks what an agent is and the framework (harness) that creates a good one. And one of the critical parts of an agent is that you’re essentially trying to wire it up to think, act, react, and use context like a human would — a really good agent acts like how you’d think and react.
